Solomontown celebrate their 2nd Premiership in 4years after defeating Port by 34 points at Memorial Oval.

League Grand Final

Solomontown led all match to defeat a Port side that had no answer for the Cat’s first quarter onslaught. The cats led at all changes to win the League Grand final in front of a bumper crowd with a sea of Blue & White and Green & White.

Port & Local stalwart Midge Johnson tossed the coin, with the flip going in the Blue & White’s favour. From that time on the Cats were relentless.

FIRST QUARTER

With just 3 minutes lapsing Tyler Foster kicked the first goal of the match for the cats, followed by Ports Ollie Ebert’s goal then a Cats barrage with Sumner adding 3 goals and CD7 1 and Camporeale added 1 for Port.

Second Quarter

The Cats Francis kicked an early goal followed by Port’s Coe with 2 quick ones. Lawson Munzberg was giving the Cats first use of the ball in ruck.  Young Webber was cleaning up everything all over the ground as if he had the ball on a string. Port’s Murphy tried had all day but he had little help.

Third Quarter

Both teams started of slowly except for Webber who again was a live wire around the field, then the Cats added 4 goals whilst holding Port goalless for the quarter.

Fourth Quarter

With game well and truly in the Cats paws, Port through Irwin added a goal, followed by Mitch Collins with 1. But the Cats were far too good to end up winning buy34 points.

Tyson Webber was clearly Best on Ground and judged so, winning the ‘Connelly Medal’ for Best in the GF.
