Around the Grounds: Round 15
Port put the rest of the teams in the finals on notice with a polished display of football on Saturday against the league leaders in the Cats. They led all day and finished up winning by 17 points.Many good players in the winning team with the livewire Ebert showing his talent along with Coe, Faulkner and Lawson Collins. The Cats will go back to the drawing board, but they will not be panicking.They lost big man Mason Munzberg in the first 2 minutes of the game with a nasty injury, and that certainly un-settled the team.
The Lions again showed some much-improved form with a huge win over Westies who would be very disappointed in their game and may have cost them a chance of playing in the finals.The Lions were well served by Wallace again with 8 goals, Serle with 5 goals
Central Augusta came away with a hard-fought victory over South Augusta on Saturday, but they did not get it all their own way. Russell, Stuart, Colson 3 goals, Clark and debutant in Jackson all performed well on the day.Centrals are now in the top 4, but they have 2 hard games to finish the season off. They play Port and then Lions.
Congratulations to the SGL ‘Team of the Year’ players. Presentations for these will be held at the Madigan Medal count. We hope those selected in this team will be present on the night.
Just a reminder that the 2025 Madigan Medal count will be held at Central Augusta Football Club. This will be held on Monday the 1st of September. Clubs will be notified of the cost of meals once we receive information back from Central Augusta. Also, if fully supported by the 3 Pirie clubs, a bus will be provided by the SGL.
