Around the Grounds:

Regrettably 8 reports were made last weekend and 1 melee, for a total of 8 games suspension. The independent SANFL tribunal are certainly doing their job. The SGFL completely agrees with their decisions to clean up our game. The SGFL have a responsibility to ensure the (senior & junior) players of our game can be protected against thuggery. Footy is the only sport where participants believe they can assault players on the field and get away with it, if these actions were committed elsewhere then there would be jail time incurred. STAMP OUT the thuggery…..

Solomontown scored a huge win over the struggling South side with Caputo & Foster again hitting the scoreboard with 14 goals between them. The Cats are in great form with many players playing at the top of their game, none more than Mason Munzberg who has become the premier ruckman of our competition and Harry Williams who continues to impress..

 Port again defeated Westies in a spiteful game of football with plenty of reports being handed out and this was very disappointing to see. Port debuted a new player in Irwin who kicked 4 goals and again were well led by Coe, Mieglich and young Camporeale. All are real asset to a side that is already playing a great brand of football.

 Central caused a minor upset with an 11 point win over the Lions who again were disappointing. Mark Fuller dominated all over the ground in great display along with young Pillion who kicked 5 goals, Veljkovic, Hunter Press and Williams.

 The league is really struggling with umpires and I think one of the main reasons is the abuse they cop from players throughout the game. If we want to maintain the umpires we have and want to recruit more, a bit more respect is required during the game and if this does not happen, clubs will be doing it themselves which we all know that is not ideal.
