ROUND 2 is UMPIRE APPRECIATION ROUND
‘This weekend the SGFL celebrates Community Umpiring Week. Community Umpiring Week acknowledges the important role umpires play in our great game. On behalf of the ‘Home’ & ‘Away’ football clubs, and football fans across our League, we thank our umpires for their contribution to football.
Acknowledgement by Players & Officials Pre game is a great way to highlight the contribution made by umpires for all those physically attending the ground and adds personal acknowledgement for the umpires on game day.
All sports are finding it more & more difficult to retain and recruit umpires, if you know of anybody interested in umpiring at any level please contact the League.

Some very impressive displays on the weekend with the 3 games being won by reasonably big margins. Port were the big winners in defeating the back to back Premiers in the Lions.
Solomontown beat the Central Augusta side very easily and that club would be very disappointed with the result after a big off season in the recruiting area, where in the other game the West Augusta side were far too good for the South Augusta team.
This weekend West travel to Port Oval for the top of the table clash, whilst at Memorial Oval Lions take on Central and the Cats travel to Pt Augusta to play South.
