‘Players of the Week’ are Port’s Thomas Faulkner and Cat’s Corey Davey with the maximum 10 votes each
Corey didn’t let it matter who was on him or where he lined up, he was best on ground against South. CD7’s ability to bring his teammates into the game was unmatched, and he stood out as the clear difference-maker across four quarters.
Thomas was outstanding in the ruck, consistently giving his midfielders first use of the ball. He was also dangerous around goal, finishing the match with four majors and proving just as influential forward of centre.

Umpire Abuse Must Stop
Umpires are essential to our game, yet too often they are subjected to unnecessary criticism, questioning, and abuse. This behaviour is unacceptable — and it’s driving good people away from officiating.
If this continues, we risk losing the very individuals who make our sport possible.
We are calling on all players to show respect for umpiring decisions, and on teammates to take responsibility for one another. Step in when lines are crossed. Hold each other accountable. Support the officials who give their time and effort so we can all play.
Respect for umpires is not optional — it’s fundamental to the integrity and future of our game.
Let’s work together to protect them.

After the weekend off, most players should have had time to freshen up and manage niggling injuries, leaving them ready to return in good nick. Those representing Northern Zone will benefit from the exposure at the Country Championships, which is a key pathway for top-level players. The SGFL is strongly represented, with selected players continuing to showcase the league’s talent.
Those chosen include Brandon Jackson-Martin (CAFC), Luke Paparella (SAFC), Tim Sumner (SFC), Anthony Oliphant & Harry Promnitz (PRFC).
