The two form sides meet this weekend in what shapes as the match of the round.
The Cats have had the upper hand in the season series, claiming a comfortable 35-point win in Round 4 before producing a dominant 95-point victory over the Bloods in Round 9. Despite those results, this contest promises to be a much tougher challenge. The Cats sit atop the ladder, while the Bloods have rediscovered their best football with three straight victories over West Augusta, Port and South Augusta, giving them plenty of confidence heading into this blockbuster. The Cats were without five key players last week, but regardless of who returns, they’ll need to be switched on from the opening bounce to curb the Bloods’ in-form midfield. If the Bloods can continue their recent momentum, they’ll be aiming to claim their biggest scalp of the season.

West vs South at Chinnery
West Augusta and South Augusta renew their rivalry this weekend in a crucial clash with plenty on the line. The Hawks are coming off a hard-fought five-point victory over Lions, while South were outplayed by the Bloods in Saturday’s twilight fixture. After an uncharacteristic loss, South will be determined to bounce back and keep their finals momentum on track. The season series is evenly poised, with West claiming the first meeting by 17 points before South responded with a 22-point victory in the return clash. With West looking to strengthen their grip on fourth spot and create breathing room over fifth place, expect another fiercely contested encounter between two evenly matched sides.

Lions vs Port at Memorial Oval
Both sides enter this clash looking to rebound from defeats, with Lions falling by a heart breaking five points to West Augusta, while Port were comprehensively beaten by the ladder-leading Cats. The season series is split at one win apiece. Lions edged Port by just three points in their Round 4 meeting, but the Bulldogs responded emphatically in Round 9 with a dominant 57-point victory. Port boast plenty of class across the ground and, with their top end talent expected to shine, they should have too much firepower for the Lions. Expect the Bulldogs to bounce back strongly and return to the winner’s list with a convincing victory.
