Season 2024 President’s Report
This season saw some great matches not only at League level but also throughout the grades.
A big thank you to all club Presidents, the SGL Executive Members and all our supporters for their tireless efforts through-out our season. I also appreciate that each had helpers within your clubs whom without, l am sure it all would have been almost impossible to operate.
Well done to Nick Kraemer & Anthony Oliphant on tying to win the Madigan Medal.
Congratulations to all SGL Medal winners and thank you to the Umpires.
This season we have seen all clubs introduce an abundance of U18s & U15s players to their league teams and what excellent talent we have. This shows off our local talent to the spectators and visitors at our great games.
Grand Finals
The League Grand Final will be a great game with the Cats trying to revenge last year’s result and Lions trying to make it back-to-back. Both teams should be at full (or near) strength. Well done to Matt and Joel for presenting quality sides every week and challenging the other teams week in week out.
The Seconds, U18s & U15s Grand Finals will be well fought out as the teams in each grade have defeated each other throughout the season.

The SGFL has recently joined with MatchDayData to produce the SGFL’s official new website.
The website gives fans access to the latest news, and our new MatchDay Centre where you can access LIVE scores, score-worms, official team sheets, best players and goal kickers for all games as well as fixtures and Premiership tables for all grades.
Port and Solomontown have taken the opportunity to introduce MatchDayData to their teams this season – this new coaching analysis platform allows the clubs to collect dynamic data LIVE and make it available when the coaches need it most, in-game.
MatchDayData also has a mobile ‘fan interface’ available through the subscribed club. I’m sure by the start of next season most clubs will have access to this feature.
Another super SGFL season and our Grand Final day will be a cracker and most enjoyable. Good luck to all teams.
