SGFL Humiliate Whyalla in the Annual Inter‑League clash

SGFL dominated from the opening bounce, with Big Maxy McKeough and Tom ‘the Tower’ Faulkner rucking tirelessly and feeding the midfield all afternoon. Their work gave ‘the Medal’ Paparella, ‘Magic’ Johnson, and ‘the Cadet’ Kovacic a licence to roam — and Whyalla’s backline must have thought they were invisible, such was their impact.

Up forward, T. Ritt put on a clinic with strong overhead marking and clean ground work, rounding out a forward line that looked dangerous every time it went inside 50.

Across the ground, SGFL’s runners were everywhere. Webber, Fuller, Veljkovic, Oliphant, Mieglich, Cooper P, and Lebios may as well have been wearing camouflage — Whyalla simply couldn’t track them.

Young gun Harry Promnitz (‘the Kid’) found the footy at will and delivered it lace‑out to the forwards, showing maturity well beyond his years.

Down back, ‘The Rock’ Colson and Joe ‘the Beast’ Beattie were impenetrable, while the three Calebs and Kayden (Junior) Bejah, Sanchez Simmons, and Lawson Collo — acted like Hoover vacuum cleaners whenever the ball went deep.

Coach Promnitz had the unusual problem of trying to rotate players who were all performing too well to bench. He was ably supported by assistant Ben Brown, while team manager Billy Sayner kept a ‘tight’ reign on the equipment .The Solomon ladies again delivered top‑tier support, and nobody went thirsty with the legendary Jack Tattoli, the number‑one hydration official, on duty.

No passengers. No weak links. Just a full SGFL train rolling straight through Whyalla.

Paparella wins President Medal

Luke Paparella just keeps raising the bar. Another outstanding performance in the SGFL v Whyalla clash, and this time he didn’t just hit the scoreboard — he owned it.
Eight goals is a day out for anyone, but what makes Paparella special is that he’s never just a finisher. True to form, ‘Boots’ wasn’t satisfied with piling on majors; he was just as damaging handing out a couple to teammates,
His work rate, positioning, and clean hands made him the focal point all afternoon, and Whyalla simply had no answers.
